CMS Switch From IACS to EIDM 2nd Attempt - 7/2/2015

CMS is again transitioning all IACS accounts to the Enterprise Identity Management System (EIDM).  I think most of remember CMS’s efforts to accomplish this task in February.  It failed and they continued to have providers, suppliers and physicians utilize the IACS system.  We found this notice today from CMS on several Medicare Contractor’s websites.

Please complete the following information by July 2, 2015 (today) by 8pm ET.

1.      Make sure you know your IACS User ID and Password. We are moving your current IACS User ID and Password “as is” to EIDM beginning July 3, 2015.

2.      Make sure you can successfully login to IACS before 8pm ET on July 2, 2015. You can access the IACS application at https://applications.cms.hhs.gov

3.      Reset your IACS password before 8pm ET on July 2, 2015, if you think that your password may expire between July 3, 2015 and July 13, 2015 or your password has already expired.

4.      Review your IACS user profile before 8pm ET on July 2, 2015 and ensure that all information is correct.

5.      Work with the QualityNet Help Desk to get any pending request approved or to address any question you have about the actions described above. The QualityNet Help Desk will be open from 8am - 8pm ET on July 2, 2015.

After 8pm ET July 2, 2015:

1.       Do not register for a new User ID in EIDM. This will complicate moving your IACS User ID to EIDM.

2.       Do not make any changes to your IACS user profile or submit a request of any type that cannot be approved prior to 8pm ET on July 2, 2015.
Direct questions to the QualityNet Help Desk at (866) 288-8912 (TTY 1-877-715-6222), Monday – Friday: 8am – 8pm ET, or via email atqnetsupport@hcqis.org.
CMS will issues additional information about actions needed after July 13th in the near future.

Basically you have been given almost no notice of the change.  I am not optimistic that things will go well in the next few weeks with this new system.  Let’s keep our fingers crossed.
